We believe building your outdoor living space is much like the movie “Field of Dreams” — maybe one of the best parable movies made to date. In the film, while standing in the middle of his Iowa corn field, the main character hears someone whisper, “If you build it, he will come”, and sees a vision. “It” is a baseball diamond, for which he must plow under his corn field in order to have a place for it and “he” is Shoeless Joe Jackson, a deceased baseball player. No movie spoilers here…but the farmer builds “it” and “he” appears. Now, Archadeck of West Central and Southwest Ohio is not implying you have to plow under everything on your property, nor can we bring someone back who has passed, but we will renovate a portion of your site and will absolutely breathe life back into your backyard with your new outdoor living area. After all, you’ve already had the vision of your new space, so (I’m whispering) if you build it now, the fun will come, now!
Can’t you just see yourself soaking up some sun on your new deck or you and several friends catching one of this season’s Major League Baseball games on your flat screen TV in your new outdoor living room? Don’t put it off any longer. The outdoor living season is right around the corner, so now is the right time to get started and make sure you’re ready before it gets into full swing, (no baseball pun intended).
There are construction benefits for every season, but here are just a few of the reasons you should get your project started now:
Reduced wait times – Our busier season is in the summer, so a smart reason to build your outdoor structure in early spring is the shorter wait time to begin construction. Obtaining required permits and HOA approvals will take less time as well. Less waiting means much more time to enjoy your new space just as the warm days are rolling in. During the outdoor living season, when dealing with a quality builder wait times can be longer.
- More time to properly seal your wood structure -If your structure is built from wood, whether pressure treated or hardwood, it needs to cure for a period of time before the sealer will properly adhere to the wood and promote beneficial protection qualities. By choosing to build now, during the least humid time of year, your wooden structure will have ample time to cure in preparation to accept the sealer you choose. Humid conditions, such as those in our summers, will cause more rapid expansion and contraction of wood that is not yet sealed for protection against the elements.
- Greater value for your budget dollar – Furnishing your new structure will be your final task before you can take full advantage of your new space. The outdoor living season is starting up offering you a bounty of deals on outdoor furniture. These savings will allow you to splurge a little on some of the higher end must-have items like outdoor sound systems or a new flat screen TV.
While there is never really a wrong time to begin your outdoor living space project, as you can see from the few reasons above, there are advantages to designing and even building during early spring. To date, almost every client, upon seeing their newly finished outdoor living space, says, “Why on earth didn’t we do this sooner?”…but not one has ever said, “I wish we had waited.”
If your dream space seems to be a little bit more than your budget can handle all at once, we can design and build your dream backyard in stages as part of our staged building program too. With this in mind, early spring is the perfect time to start the first stage of your desired outdoor living project, such as the deck as part of a deck and screened porch, or deck and patio combination — the possibilities are endless for creating the backyard of your dreams!
Now, with all these benefits in mind, what are you waiting for? Remember, if you build it now, the fun will come…now! Don’t wait any longer!
